“While businesses across the country are cutting back, members of the House saw their own office budgets increase by an average of 7 percent between 2008 and 2009.”

Are you kidding me?
I was shocked when I read this article over the weekend. And I hope you are as appalled and angry as I am. In a time when families across the nation are losing their homes and their jobs, and nearly every one I know has had to make sacrifices, Washington politicians are actually increasing their office budgets.
Folks, this is ridiculous! At what point are these out-of-touch liberals going to realize what more government and more deficit spending is doing to our nation? How many people have to lose their jobs before Washington starts using some commonsense?
According to this article, the 7% raise in office expenses is higher than “the inflation rate, the consumer price index and the 5.8 percent cost-of-living adjustment for recipients of Social Security.” President Obama and his liberal allies Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are spending trillions on bailouts, trying to socialize medicine, and nationalizing a giant auto manufacturer. Does it really surprise you that they are trying to raise their office budgets too?
Congressman Pete Sessions of Texas believes we should be freezing Congressional office budgets during this economic crisis and I wholeheartedly agree. We are all prioritizing our spending, squeezing the most out of every dollar, and watching our checkbooks very closely. Many families are cutting coupons and cutting out all luxuries to make ends meet. Congress should be acting with that same mentality.
I’ll help shake up Washington and support Congressman Session’s move to freeze Congressional office budgets. That’s just small town common sense.
