Dear Friends –
How can we create more jobs and grow South Carolina’s economy?
What is excessive spending and unprecedented government growth doing to our nation?
Should Congress pass President Obama’s plan to nationalize health care or a conservative solution based on free market principles?
How can we do more to empower teachers, employers, and workers?
Should we scrap the federal tax code and start over?
Is offshore drilling part of the answer to our energy problems?
These are just a few of the questions I’m hearing as I tour the district. The career politicians in Washington don’t have all the answers; they just think they do. That arrogance and disdain for public input is how we’ve ended up in the position we’re in.
A lot of the answers to our nation’s most pressing problems can be answered with basic common sense. We all know you can’t spend more than you earn and government shouldn’t be running private businesses. We also know America can’t be successful in the global market place when China owns a large chunk of our debts.
I’m no genius, but I do have enough common sense to realize what unchecked spending, ill-conceived bailouts, and a government-run health care system will do to our nation. Unfortunately, common sense seems to be what’s
missing in Congress.
That’s why I’m turning to you for answers. I want to know what you think.
This week I’m launching my “Common Sense Chats” – informal town hall meetings across the district to talk with you about the issues impacting South Carolina families.
The first Common Sense Chat will be held next Tuesday, July 21st, 6 – 7:00 pm, in Easley in the Easley High School Cafeteria.
If Easley is too far for you to travel, don’t worry. I’ll be coming to your area in the next few weeks. I hope you’ll come out and tell me what’s on your mind. I know that together we can come up with the answers and shake up Congress with some small town common sense.
WHAT: Shane Massey’s 1st Common Sense Chat
WHERE: Easley High School Cafeteria, Easley, SC
WHEN: Tuesday, July 21st, 6:00 – 7:00 pm
