Remembering September 11th

Today is the ten-year anniversary of the most tragic attack against innocent American lives in our nation’s history. Those attacks on that early September morning in 2001 affected our entire nation. We were stunned, and we were united in our grief.

Many lives were lost on that day, but the bravery of many helped to make sure that more were saved. The heroic actions by police, firefighters, and everyday citizens on United Flight 93 helped ensure that the tragedy of September 11th was not made worse.

Since then, our men and women in the military have sacrificed to keep our country safe and free. They have fought to ensure that those born after this fateful day do not grow up in a country paralyzed by fear.

That is why I ask you to take some time with me today to remember what happened ten years ago. Remember everyone who has already sacrificed because of this attack and remember that many of our nation’s families are still sacrificing today.

I am proud of the emergency responders and the military men and women of this country. We will never forget what you have done. We will always be thankful.
